We are officially in the middle of a rom-com resurgence. You have to assume it’s because streaming services like Netflix put a lot of time and effort into making rom-coms, but regardless, there just seems to be more and more of them with audiences eating them up. Does that mean they’ll work again on the big screen? Well, for the folks behind “Love Again,” they sure hope there is still an audience for mid-budget, adult romance on the big screen.

As seen in the trailer for “Love Again,” the film follows the story of one really beautiful woman who has been reeling from the death of her boyfriend, and she deals with her grief by sending text messages to his old phone number. And wouldn’t you know it? The person who has taken over the phone number just so happens to be a really handsome man who is struggling to understand love and begins to fall for this mystery person who keeps texting his phone. It’s just the right amount of creepy and ridiculous that makes for a decent rom-com. I wonder what happens in the end?
The new film stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Sam Heughan, and Celine Dion. If that last name is throwing you for a loop, just know the singer does also provide music for the movie and isn’t just hired for her acting chops.
“Love Again” arrives in theaters on May 12. You can watch the trailer below.
