Got a Tip?

Long Lost Soundtrack For ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth’ Finally Getting Released

The world isn’t quite over the sudden death of David Bowie in January of this year. For those of us still missing The Starman and playing Blackstar on repeat, exciting things are happening.

It was recently announced that Bowie’s 1976 sci-fi masterpiece “The Man Who Fell To Earth” would be getting a theatrical release for the 40th anniversary of the film. As if that weren’t enough, the discovery of previously lost master tapes means the soundtrack can be released for the first time ever. While Bowie was originally supposed to compose the score, the job eventually went John Phillips (of the Mamas & the Papas) and Stomu Yamash’ta when contractual details couldn’t be sorted out. More paperwork bungles between director Nicolas Roeg and the studio kept the soundtrack from being released, and it seemed like the music was lost to time…until now.

A 2-CD set will be released the same day the movie hits theaters, and later this year, a vinyl boxset including a book about the soundtrack, exclusive photos, and notes from the film’s editor will be released.

The film and CD will be released September 9, with the vinyl boxset following on November 18. Until then, check out the announcement and official tracklist below. [FACT]
