Logan Lerman isn’t yet twenty, but the actor is quickly rising. He nabbed his first tentpole role in “Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief” — which has a sequel in the works — and he’s got “The Three Musketeers” arriving later this year and he’s set to star in “The Perks Of Being A Wallflower” which will go in front of cameras later this spring. And he’s shoring up his resumé with another character driven piece.
Deadline reports that Lerman is set to star in “The Only Living Boy In New York” that will be directed by Seth Gordon (“The King Of Kong,” the upcoming dark comedy “Horrible Bosses“). The film is a coming-of-age tale in which a young man learns his Dad is having an affair and tries to stop it, only to become involved with the woman himself. But it will be a “quirky neighbor” who finally teaches him about love. Sounds pretty good right? Except there’s one problem.
Allan Loeb. The bafflingly popular screenwriter behind such mediocre to wretched fare as “21,” “The Switch,” “The Dilemma” and “Just Go With It” penned the screenplay which pretty much tanks any interest we have in this. His milquetoast and edgeless work befuddles us as to why this guy is so beloved by studio or producer types. So yeah, we’re keeping our expectations seriously low.
No word yet on when this will lens, but it likely won’t go until Lerman wraps ‘Wallflower’ and Gordon finishes up ‘Horrible Bosses’ which is being readied for a July 8th release. And we shouldn’t have to tell you this is named after a Simon & Garfunkel song.
Logan Lerman is the hottest Jewish boy ever.
We are to believe that Logan Lerman who still looks like he is 12 years old has an affair with his father\’s mistress? What would she be playing a pedophile? This is a dumb idea. We already had a movie about a little boy falling in love with an older woman that bombed big time this year called \”ceremony\” starring Urma Thurman.
It sounds pretty interesting. I hope it does turn out good because I really like Logan Lerman and \’The Only Living Boy In New York\’ is one of my favourite songs and my absolute favourite Simon and Garfunkel song, I don\’t want it tarnished!
Really underrated film too (Things We Lost In The Fire). I think Berry\’s rare balance of emotion and histrionics (that work given the circumstances).
it\’s interesting because Loeb\’s script for Things We Lost in the Fire was BRILLIANT. Total one hit wonder it seems.
this script made me want to punch puppies it was so wanna-be-indie and loaded with characters pouring their hearts out while bouncing around cool lower east side parties and everything is a united colors of benneton ad and the lead character befriends a crazy old black man who teaches him about love and holy shit this is a fucking terrible script. seriously, someone stop loeb. now.
I suspect Loeb\’s films are so lame (and he\’s so beloved by studios) because he incorporates all the asinine notes that no-talent execs give him.
I really hope they change the title. Whatever crap movie this becomes will not be deserving of sharing a title with the song from Bridge Over Troubled Water.
I checked around town, and word is that Allan Loeb is an excellent kisser.
