Some trailers are there to educate with a heavy-handed explanation of the plot and maybe a few key beats from the script. Then you have other trailers, such as the new one for the AMC series “Lodge 49,” that gives zero plot but instead, focuses on the style, feeling, and ambiance of the project.
As seen in the new Season 2 trailer for “Lodge 49,” the “feeling” that you’re supposed to get from the footage is that of whimsy. The series follows the adventures of three folks, linked together either by blood or a fraternal order, as they navigate life in what appears to be a bit of a fairy tale version of Long Beach. Again, there’s no plot to speak of, other than one character saying the line “Something is missing, I just don’t know what.”

The series stars Wyatt Russell, Sonya Cassidy, Brent Jennings, Linda Emond, Eric Allan Kramer, and David Pasquesi. “Lodge 49” comes from the creative mind of Jim Gavin, the series’ writer, creator, and producer. He co-showruns the series with Peter Ocko, who is best known for his work on the series “Pushing Daisies” and “The Office.”
“Lodge 49” Season 2 premiered on Monday and will have new episodes every week.
Here’s the synopsis:
Season two of this modern fable set in Long Beach, CA centers on likable “Squire” and ex-surfer Sean “Dud” Dudley (Wyatt Russell), whose beloved fraternal order — the Ancient and Benevolent Order of the Lynx — is suffering under new rule by an ill-suited leader. Despite his “Knight” and mentor Ernie’s (Brent Jennings) lost faith, and his twin sister Liz’s (Sonya Cassidy) struggle with their past, Dud believes he is the key to restoring the Lodge to its former grandeur and putting the rightful king on the throne.
