It looks like movement on “The Strangers 2” is starting to begin again after shooting, which was supposed to take place in September of last year, never actually got started. Bloody Disgusting is reporting that Liv Tyler is a “lock” to return, reprising her role as Kristen McKay. Those who have seen the first may find that surprising.
The original writer and director Bryan Bertino has returned as only a scribe for the sequel. Laurent Briet is taking over direction on the picture, with very little experience to rely on. He has one short film under his belt, as well as a video for Aphex Twin’s “Nannou” (see below). An early draft of the script places the killers from the original film in some sort of down-and-out trailer park. A new director and locale could bode well for the picture, but with ours and others’ reviews of the first film hanging heavy on the negative end we aren’t expecting any miracles. — Eric T. Voigt
She dies in the first one though, didn't she?
No, no, she doesn't die. She survives to scare the hell out of some neighbor kids.
I liked it better when it was called Funny Games
This is one of the best horror films of the decade. You're all on crack. It hasn't been a major decade for horror, but this along with "Wolf Creek" evidence a humanist streek sorely lacking in the "Saw" age. The opening 20 minutes of 'Strangers' is achingly sad, so that when the carnage begins, the stakes– our investment in these characters– are actually there. What's more, Bertino has serious chops as a genre director– check his favoring of subtle scares (see: the 'Stranger enters the background scene') over cheap jump-n-thrills. He's no Carpenter or Hooper yet, but this is as solid a horror debut as any we saw in the Aughts. Recognize.
Why doesnt anyone mention that this is a remake from the french/romanian film "ils"
