Even though it’s Thursday, the weekend still feels far away, and you might need something to power you through to the end of the week. Well, how about a full album’s worth of music by M83? Yeah, we thought that might help.
M83’s complete soundtrack for “Oblivion” has arrived for your earbuds, and yes, it sounds pretty damn great. But for those of you hoping for a Tom Cruise movie powered by Anthony Gonzalez‘s astounding rack of synths that push to the sky, things are slightly different. The title track, “StarWaves,” and “I’m Sending You Away” aside, this is very much a movie score (aided by Joseph Trapanese), and Gonzalez seems to have fit inside this world pretty nicely for what is his first major studio gig.
The soundtrack will be available to own starting April 9th, and the movie drops on April 19th (four new clips here in case you missed it). [Mashable]
It's a generic wallpaper score- like anything any TV composer would write for a big sci-fi film. Nothing more.
It's okay but this is definitely no M83 album. More like a slightly more electronic Hans Zimmer score. However, I am sure this is the best thing about Oblivion, whose trailer is Obviously Obfuscating how Obscenely Obful it will be.
Although you suggest there isn't a whole of M83 peeking through this soundtrack I would disagree. There are so many subtleties that suggest this is definitely an M83 soundtrack. Hope the movie lives up to the music presented here.
