Karen O more than proved her musical life outside the Yeah, Yeah, Yeahs with the score for Spike Jonze’s “Where The Wild Things Are” last year.
She’s continuing down this avenue having contributed a cover of Roger Allan Wade’s country song, “If You’re Gonna Be Dumb, You Gotta Be Tough” for the “Jackass 3D” soundtrack (Jonze is a producer on the film and has long been involved with the “Jackass” series which just hit its 10th anniversary recently). Wade’s music was also used in “Jackass: The Movie” and “Jackass Number Two” so clearly the filmmakers like his satirical take on country that generally deals with topics and stereotypes relating to redneck and honky tonk culture (his song ‘Party in My Pants” is also on the ‘3D’ soundtrack).
The soundtrack is available digitally on October 12th and physically on October 26th. “Jackass 3D” opens October 15th and we hope it makes James Cameron cry or shake his head with disgust. Hear her cover and the original Wade track after the jump.
