Got a Tip?

Lionsgate Keeping Hope Alive For “Possibility” Of More ‘Twilight’ Movies

With “The Hunger Games” over (for now) and the “Divergent” series collapsing like a wet fart after too many sliders at White Castle, Lionsgate find themselves without a YA franchise at the moment. The studio sparked the whole craze with the “Twilight” films, wringing the most out of it they could with four movies. And course, any studio executives worth their salt are going to find a way to open that money faucet back up if they can, and Lionsgate is no different, hoping that one day, they can excite Twihards all over again with more movies.

“It’s a possibility,” Lionsgate co-chairman Patrick Wachsberger told Screen Daily. “Not a certainty but it’s a possibility. It’s about Stephenie [novelist Stephenie Meyer]. If she wants to tell a story related to those characters we’re here for her.”

And really, never say never. This fall, Warner Bros. is readying their bank accounts for the flood of fresh Harry Potter cash that will come rolling in, thanks to J.K. Rowling giving her blessing (and writing the script) for “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.” So it’s not entirely out of the question that one day, Stephenie Meyer may have more stories to tell in the “Twilight” universe. And a few years back, she teased as much.

“I even planned out where it would go for a couple more books. So I know exactly what would happen, I mean there are a lot of characters I think would have a voice in those other stories. I don’t know, maybe I’ll write it out someday for myself,” the author said in 2012.

So, keep hope alive, and in this era of branded filmmaking, nothing is ever really gone forever. [via JoBlo]
