It looks like Lionsgate are ready to give the world yet another awful Katherine Heigl-led film. The studio has snatched up the U.S. distribution rights to the upcoming adaptation of the Janet Evanovich novel “One For The Money.”
We’ve reported on this one before, but if you’ve ignored it that’s OK because, we know, it sounds stupid. In the film, Heigl will play “a 30ish divorcee who gets a job with her slimy cousin in the bail bond business. Her first big case involves a local cop wanted for murder who is the guy who broke her heart in high school. This leads to suspense, murder, and some romance.” It also leads to us gagging. Julie Ann Robinson (“The Last Song”) will be directing, while Liz Brixius (“Nurse Jackie”) does a rewrite.
Heigl will next be seeing in the “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”-lite assassin flick “Killers” with Ashton Kutcher; that hits theaters on June 4th. Also, she’s finally leaving “Grey’s Anatomy” after this season, probably making the writers extraordinarily happy after turning down an Emmy nomination, slagging the show in the process. If there’s anything you can say about Katherine Heigl, it’s that she’s grateful for the breaks she’s been given.
