After a long search that has seen young actresses such as Saoirse Ronan, Emma Watson, Alicia Vikander, Gabriella Wilde, Bella Heathcote and Margot Robbie all test or enter talks for the lead role, Disney has finally settled on their “Cinderella.”
And it’s “Downton Abbey” thesp Lily James aka Lady Rose MacClare, who has landed the part. It’s a bit of a step up for the actress, who has popped up in “Secret Diary Of A Call Girl” and “Wrath Of The Titans,” and it will place her opposite Cate Blanchett as the evil stepmother, in the movie to be directed by Kenneth Branagh. That’s some pretty solid talent all around. And while that’s all the news for now, Disney is promising more casting in the weeks to come as production eyes a fall start.
No release date for this one yet, but we’re pretty sure the studio will wave its magic wand for 2014.
May I say that Lily James is too sweet (or too bitch-like) to fit this role. And she's too energetic. It seems that if Lily had a stepmother who forces her to do chores, she would just fight back, drive the evil mother out of her house and make the two sisters her slaves!
Bella Heathcote is way better.
Let's be real it doesn't matter who they cast as Cinderella. This is going to be Cate Blanchett's movie through and through.
She's a good choice!
Oh no…i wanted either Alicia Vikander or Imogen Poots.
