Got a Tip?

Lily Collins & Sam Claflin Team For Rom-Com ‘Love, Rosie’

nullSomeone out there must have seen something that we, as yet, have not, but it looks like Hollywood is still trying to make Sam Claflin happen. The young British actor was virtually anonymous in “Snow White and the Huntsman” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” but that didn’t stop him lining up a key role in “The Hunger Games” franchise as Finnick Odair. Perhaps it’s that the films we’ve seen him in so far haven’t really harnessed his talents (and that’s perfectly feasible considering their respective quality), so we’ll hold out hopes that he’ll bring the goods in the future; perhaps in “Love, Rosie,” in which he’s just been cast alongside Lily Collins.

Claflin will star as Alex, the star-crossed lover of the distinctively eyebrowed daughter-of-Phil, who will play the eponymous Rosie. The romantic comedy (apparently) will see the pair (presumably both playing British) planning to head to the U.S. for college, only for Rosie to get pregnant after a crazy night out with the "most popular boy in school." She encourages Alex to continue to the States without her, but the film follows them over the course of the next 12 years as their lives change but a connection between the two remains.

The film will be shopped later this week in Berlin, with principal photography due to begin in May. The film is based on the novel “Where Rainbows End” by Celia Ahern (“P.S. I Love You"), while Juliette Towhidi (“Calendar Girls”) penned the script. Hopefully we’re in for something a little better than we got with the last Ahern adaptation, but we’re already a fan of Collins, while Claflin is undeniably handsome even if there is nothing more to come (and this is a rom-com, which means casting-wise he’s already most of the way there). 1. You don't do your homework do you? He's been in more than 2 Hollywood movies (both of which parts were pretty boring due to their scripts), Claflin just played them as directed.
If you want to see his talent watch "White Heat" a British TV series.

  2. Wait a minute, why are you taking Sam Claflin to task? If it wasn't for her eyebrows Lily Collins would have been anonymous in Mirror Mirror. I know she is Phil's daugther(I like Phil), but let's not get it twisted who Hollywood is trying to make happen.
