Got a Tip?

Liam Neeson To Star In Remake Of Rupert Wyatt’s ‘The Escapist,’ Plus Check Out A New Clip From ‘Taken 3’

Taken 3 / Tak3nWith an underrated drama currently in theaters ("The Gambler," a flawed, but worthwhile remake featuring a committed performance from Mark Wahlberg), and having single-handedly rebooted a major franchise with "Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes," director Rupert Wyatt seemed to arrive out of nowhere. But you don’t get a parking spot in Hollywood without something vouching for you, and for Wyatt, it was his 2008 prison drama "The Escapist." Led by Brian Cox as a veteran convict with an escape plan, the movie didn’t win raves, but got noticed in the right places, enough to allow for the right meetings to get set up, and for Wyatt to launch his career. And now, the movie is getting a remake.

Legendary Pictures announced (via Collider) that Liam Neeson will get grizzled in the lead role in the movie, which is currently searching for a director, but has a script from Sean O’Keefe. Wyatt himself is involved as a producer. Check out the original trailer for "The Escapist" below.

Anyway, until we know more about that, Neeson is back to his usual schtick these days in "Taken 3," growling at people then incapacitating them. So behold, a new clip where Forest Whitaker goes all "The Fugitive" is in his search of Bryan Mills, accused of killing his wife. The three-quel arrives on Friday.
