Got a Tip?

Leonardo DiCaprio & Jonah Hill Producing TV Series Based On Q-Tip’s Hip-Hop Career

Wolf Of Wall Street Leonardo DiCaprio Jonah Hill Q-Tip

It looks like that party hasn’t stopped for Leonardo DiCaprio and Jonah Hill following “The Wolf of Wall Street.” The pair have clearly hit it off, and while we’ll wait to see if they team up on the big screen again, for now they are working together on a TV project that’s inspired by one of the most influential hip-hop artists of our generation.

Deadline reports that DiCaprio and Hill are teaming with Q-Tip (who is apparently best buds with Leo) to produce an untitled TV series that will be based on the rapper’s years as part of A Tribe Called Quest and hanging with the circle of groups that were part of the Native Tongues collective (which including Jungle Brothers and De La Soul among other friends, guests and more). And it’s easy to see why this would be potent drama, capturing New York City at a particularly fertile and groundbreaking time for hip-hop, with no shortage of drama between the players of the scene (just watch the documentary “Beats, Rhymes & Life” to see both the inspiration and conflict of the Tribe era).

There are no writers or anything attached yet, but the project will be taken to networks soon where hopefully someone will bite.
