Got a Tip?

Lena Dunham To Direct And Produce 1960s Set Feminism Comedy Pilot ‘Max’ For HBO

GirlsLena Dunham has been involved in a big way with the f-word today: feminism. It was in her newsletter Lenny that Jennifer Lawrence shared her feelings on the gender wage gap in Hollywood, and now the multi-talented Dunham has a new project coming to HBO, that also has the f-word linked to it, and it arrives perhaps just in time since "Girls" might end after season six….

HBO has ordered up a pilot for the comedy "Max," which Dunham will direct and produce. "Girls" writer and executive producer Murray Miller has penned the debut episode, set in 1963, which will follow a magazine writer who finds herself drawn into the rise of second-wave feminism. That sounds like a pretty great concept, and certainly a different outlook an era than something like the "Mad Men."

Lisa Joyce (“Billy & Billie”) will lead the show (if it goes to series), with "Girls" team Jenni Konner and Ilene Landress joining Miller and Dunham as producers. Hopefully this one can live up to the promise and make it to series.

  1. As Lena Dunham is known for, this show won\’t give a crap about any non-white, Manhattanite born women, probably have a few racist views coming from her & not the show & when called out on it will add in a few "token" characters to appease the internet.
