With "Gambit" now rolling ahead smoothly after a brief, and ultimately unfounded panic that Channing Tatum might leave the superhero flick, casting is moving with full steam and director Rupert Wyatt and co. are looking for the female lead.
Deadline reports that Lea Seydoux ("Spectre," "Blue Is The Warmest Color"), Rebecca Ferguson ("Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation"), and Abbey Lee ("Mad Max: Fury Road," "The Neon Demon") are all testing for the role of Belladonna Boudreaux. The character is Gambit’s longtime love, but she’s got some mutant powers her own as well, and eventually joins the Assassin’s Guild.
Even in my brief comic book days, I never read "Gambit," so you’ll have to tell me what you think of these names for Bella. Hit up the comment section. "Gambit" starts shooting this fall and opens on October 7, 2016.
Only one of those women can truly act, which is Lea. But I don\’t really want her to become the random French woman in every action film, I think she\’s better than that.
