Craig Gore is a writer that many people who read The Playlist probably aren’t that familiar with. His previous credits include episodes of “S.W.A.T.” and “Chicago PD,” as well as the upcoming, highly-anticipated “Law & Order: SVU” spin-off that stars actor Chris Meloni. He definitely has a penchant for writing crime dramas. Oh, and he also enjoys posing for pictures outside of his house with a large gun threatening to kill people that come close to his home. And for that reason, he’s no longer a writer for the ‘SVU’ spin-off.
On social media, a tweet by producer Drew Janda showing screenshots that seem to be of Craig Gore’s personal Facebook page went viral after the pictures show the aforementioned tough-guy pose with a large gun, with the caption “curfew…” and then comments where he threatened to shoot potential looters. All this stemming from the brutal killing of unarmed George Floyd by a Minneapolis police officer and the subsequent protests that have been happening nationwide.
Gore commented on his picture, “Sunset is being looted two blocks from me. You think I won’t light motherfuckers up who are trying to fuck w/ my property I worked all my life for? Think again…”
It appears that comment, where Gore said, in no uncertain terms, that he would be willing to shoot and potentially kill people, has drawn the ire of Dick Wolf, the creator of “Law & Order” and the creative mastermind behind all the various spin-offs associated with his lucrative TV brand. And much like how Gore was speaking plainly about his violent intentions, Wolf spoke just as clearly while terminating the writer.
“I will not tolerate this conduct, especially during our hour of national grief. I am terminating Craig Gore immediately,” Dick Wolf said in a statement.
Just like that, before the series even goes before cameras, the Chris Meloni-led “Law & Order” spin-off has lost one of its writers, and Craig Gore went from being a relatively unknown TV writer to the object of scorn from one of the most powerful TV producers in Hollywood.
