Vulture‘s on a roll today. They also have the poster for Woody Allen’s “Whatever Works,” but seriously, that’s going to get people into theaters? $5,000 says that’s only version one as Sony Pictures Classics is really going to have to do better than that. Yes, “Curb Your Enthusiasm” was popular and watched by many, but really?
According to the Tribeca Film Fest‘s synopsis, “Whatever Works” is about “an eccentric New Yorker played by Larry David who abandons his upper-class life to lead a more bohemian existence. He meets a young girl from the South (Evan Rachel Wood) and her family (Ed Begley Jr., Patricia Clarkson), and no two people seem to get along in the entanglements that follow. This comedy from legendary writer/director Woody Allen also stars Conleth Hill, and Michael McKean.”
Whatever Works,” which officially needs a better poster and has already met with — somewhat mixed reviews (here’s another)– comes out June 19, 2009 in limited release. No trailer has been released as of yet, but here’s one scene.
Role vs. roll?
Going too fast as usual, thanks ( i juggle two jobs, the anons need to cut 2% of slack).
Is the poster meant to be some kind of comic reflection on the title?
And far too clever for the pleebs they want to get into the theaters.
Gotta love the tagline too…”a new comedy”…oooooook, as opposed to an old one?
I’m pretty sure this poster is deliberately crappy. Maybe too many people won’t get the joke but I like it.
