Much has been said about the lengths Lady Gaga went to portray Patrizia Reggiani in Ridley Scott’s latest film, “House of Gucci.” She studied animals. She lived with a (questionable) accent for more than a year. Needless to say, Lady Gaga went all in and exhausted herself for the role. Would she do the same for a superhero film?

Speaking to Variety (via ScreenRant), Lady Gaga is asked that exact question. Would the Oscar-nominated actress actually step up to the plate if a superhero film was offered? Sure, but with a pretty big, if not vague caveat.
“It’s really hard for me to say that I wouldn’t do something,” said the singer-turned-actress. “I think mostly I’m not interested in doing things that don’t ultimately have something meaningful to say. And I did ‘House of Gucci’ because I thought Patrizia Reggiani as a character had something to say, and there was something in the script that was really valuable for women and I care about women.”
For some more cynical film fans out there, the idea of a “meaningful” superhero film is an oxymoron. Obviously, we’ve seen select superhero films rise above the rest with quality writing, acting, and emotion. Films like “Black Panther,” “The Dark Knight,” “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,” and hell, even “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” all sort of fit that bill. And we’ve seen actors of a much higher caliber (no offense) than Lady Gaga sign up for superhero work previously.
All that to say, the vague answer to the question doesn’t really say much, but apparently, if the project is right, you might actually get Lady Gaga in a superhero costume. Of course, all of that is dependent on Marvel Studios or another production company wanting her for the role.
“House of Gucci” is in theaters now.
