No matter how this went down, there are going to be complaints about why your favorite actress or comedienne wasn’t considered or cast in Paul Feig‘s brewing, female-led "Ghostbusters" reboot. Well, take it to the comments section, because he’s already made up his mind.
Today, the writer/director hit Twitter and revealed his quartet of leads: Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy, along with "Saturday Night Live" stars Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones. The Wrap notes that are all in negotiations to join the film, which presumably means that the rumored spring shoot is not out of the question, and that McCarthy — who was a question mark due to her tremendously busy schedule — will be able to fit this one into her calendar.
“We’re not recreating the old movie, but we want to do just enough fun nods that the fans will go, ‘Oh, okay, they’re acknowledging that the other movie existed,’” Feig recently told Empire about his approach. “I like to watch parodies, but I don’t want to do them because they’re too referential. Comedy that’s too referential has such a short shelf life, whereas comedy that’s based around characters will be relatable 2000 years from now because people won’t change that much.”

How come the cast isn\’t three black women and one white woman? Huh? You wanna be progressive? THAT\’S progress!
Why does this movie need to be re-done ? I loved the original and don\’t feel like it should be rebooted. Leave the classics alone please.
Paul Feig thinks people will give a shit about this 2000 years from now.
Booooooooooooooo..
As long as Kate and Kristen are the two main leads, I have no problem.
Yeah I dont think the problem people are having with this movie stem from not having their favorite actress cast instead. I\’m a woman and even I dont want an all female cast, not to mention I pretty guessed who they were going to cast by who the writer/director is. Just leave this movie alone and come up with something original for once.
Why do we need a "new" and "politically correct" Ghostbusters? I like Melissa McCarthy, but I\’m tired of seeing the same old character.
Stoked to see McKinnons name on there
Bad idea. Bill, do you know about this?
I don\’t want to live in this world anymore
I wonder if Leslie is like Ernie from the first film, and shows up in the middle of the film to have diversity in the group?
Melissa McCarthy ?
Hard pass. She\’s easily on her 14th out of fifteen minutes of fame
Is this another attempt by pimp Lorne Michaels to whore out his "talent" to the public? Not calling the women whores, just the approach pimp Michaels takes.
You don\’t want to know, Trust me, You don\’t want to know
