Both Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell are known for dipping their toes into drama from time to time, but frankly, this sounds like exactly the kind of thing they would spoof instead. Which is maybe what makes it all the more brilliant of an idea.
THR reports that the duo will star in the Lifetime movie "A Deadly Adoption." Yes, really. Described as a campy and fun dramatic thriller, the pair will be joined by Jessica Lowndes ("90210") in the story of a couple who look after a young, pregnant woman with plans to adopt her child, only for things to go wrong, as they always do in Lifetime movies. Here’s the other thing: it has already been filmed. Rachel Lee Goldenberg (“Escape From Polygamy,” “Love at the Christmas Table,” “Toddlers and Tiaras: Where Are They Now?”) directed the effort that has a script from "Spoils Of Babylon" scribe Andrew Steele, while also featuring both Ferrell and Wiig.
No exact airdate has been revealed just yet, but it’s expected that "A Deadly Adoption" will arrive in the summer. We can’t wait to watch this with Mom.
The story ran on my least favorite holiday, the moronic April Fool\’s Day. Perhaps it\’s HR\’s idea of a joke.
