So, can Kristen Stewart succeed where her "Twilight" buddy Taylor Lautner failed? She's going to give it a shot as she's lining up an action movie to call her own.
Variety reports that Stewart will the lead the cast of "Cali,"an indie action flick that is still looking for a director. Penned by Michael Diliberti ("30 Minutes or Less"), the story finds Stewart playing Mya, who pairs up with her boyfriend Chris to make a fake snuff film which they sell for a wad of cash before beating it out of the San Fernando Valley. Kids these days. Years later, she's forced to head back to save her younger sister, but to do so she will have to face "angry former business partners, homicidal porn stars, stoner vet techs, an unstoppable killing machine in a cowboy hat" as well as keep a handle on her relationship with Chris.
Frankly, it sounds like every low rent '90s indie movie that came out in the post-Tarantino wave with a sun-baked setting and a bunch of wacky characters ping-ponging against each other. However, Stewart is producing the pic (her first one), so we presume there is some other element to the material that is attracting her to the gig. Production on "Cali" will gear up to start in late summer, and now obsessive KStew fans will have something else to scrutinize other than "Snow White And The Huntsman." We're sure they're already dreamcasting the role of Chris….
Why don't they offer Taylor a role in this action movie?
She's been a kid actress since very young. People should check her films including Panic Room with Jodie Foster (as Fincher already directed her), especially Speak (2004, when she was 13). She's pretty premature et inspiring. Look forward to her On The Road with Sam Riley.
I wonder if they did it as a black comedy if it could be good
Plot sounds a bit dumb. I guess we will see how it goes if it gets made.
Flop, just like everything else she does
If 30 Minutes or Less is anything to go by then this could suck.
Where is that picture above? She is much prettier than usual …
Is it typical for a movie to start shooting in a few months and have no director attached? Doesn't seem like there is much time for preparation there.
Yikes, 30 Minutes or Less…was not good.
Doesn't sound promising.
I'd think with Snow White and On the Road her options should be better than this. Maybe she'll shock us and line up an interesting choice for a director.
the plot sounds kinda stupid. wonder how it will shape up.
