While DCU fans wait for Michael Keaton‘s brief return as Bruce Wayne/Batman in “The Flash” next year, there’s some other news on the Keaton front. The actor just wrapped photography on his second directing effort after 2009’s “The Merry Gentleman,” entitled “Knox Goes Away.” The noir thriller stars Keaton as Knox, a contract killer diagnosed with rapid-onset dementia who vows to save his estranged adult son’s life before his mind totally deteriorates.

The against-the-clock thriller also stars James Marsden as Knox’s son, Marcia Gay Harden, Suzy Nakamura, Joanna Kulig, and Al Pacino. John Hoogenakker, Lela Loren, and Ray McKinnon round out the main cast.
Keaton directs an original script by “National Treasure: Book Of Secrets” scribe Gregory Poirier. Trevor Matthews and Nick Gordon co-produce through their Brookstreet banner with Sugar23‘s Michael Sugar and Ashley Zalta. Keaton’s also on board as a co-producer.
“Original noir thrillers like this are a rarity nowadays, so as producers, and movie lovers, we couldn’t be more excited to be a part of this project,” said Brookstreet and Sugar23 in the film’s press release. “With Michael Keaton both behind and in front of the camera, combined with the rest of our gifted cast and crew, the audience is in for a real treat.”
Expect “Knox Goes Away” to get a late 2023 theatrical release at the earliest.
