Got a Tip?

‘Knight & Day’ To Hit Theaters Two Days Early On June 23

Looking forward to seeing Tom Cruise go a little crazy, a little early? His new action comedy, “Knight & Day,” directed by James Mangold (“Walk the Line”), co-starring Cameron Diaz with appearances by Peter Sarsgaard, Paul Dano, Viola Davis and Maggie Grace is hitting theaters two days early now — midweek on June 23 (a Wednesday) instead of the regular June 25, Friday/weekend-begins date.

The idea of Cruise sending-up his insane, Oprah-on-the-couch character is an amazing one. Now we’re just hoping the film is funny all the way through, as recent trailers start out exceptionally well and then… seem to devolve into bland and expected action thrills. Here’s to hoping anyhow.

The picture will get the jump on the Adam Sandler film, “Grown Ups,” the only other major competition that weekend. And if the awkward and stilted MTV Movie Awards appearance of the entire cast — Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider — is any indication, “Grown Ups” won’t be remotely funny and Cruise will sweep that weekend at the box-office. Hail Xenu!

  1. I'm not convinced on this movie, the trialer really didn't sell it. I'm not a Diaz fan, and Tom Cruise is a little hit-or-miss with his roles for me…so I doubt I'll be heading out to the cinema for this one…maybe wait until the DVD lands in the bargain bin.

  2. So they are opening 2 days earlier to get the jump on Grown Ups? Sorcerer's Apprentice opening 2 days earlier that Inception I can understand. It would be interesting to know how the 2 movies are tracking.
