Ridley Scott released two major films in 2021, including “House of Gucci” and “The Last Duel.” The latter of which marked the first time the filmmaker worked with actress Jodie Comer. They enjoyed the situation so much, the two were scheduled to reteam for the upcoming Napoleon epic, “Kitbag.” Well, it would appear Comer and Scott are going to have to wait a bit longer for an eventual reunion.

According to THR, Jodie Comer is having to leave her role in “Kitbag” due to scheduling issues. Speaking about the situation, Comer wasn’t pleased with having to drop out and called the whole thing “rubbish,” blaming scheduling and COVID.
“Unfortunately, due to COVID and changes of schedule, I don’t think I can make Kitbag work right now due to a scheduling conflict,” she explained.
In “Kitbag,” Comer was set to play Napoleon’s wife, Josephine, as the film focuses on the love between the two and the former’s rise to power.
But never fear, Ridley Scott fans! It would appear the director isn’t wasting time with finding Comer’s replacement. According to another THR report, the director has brought in Vanessa Kirby to take over for Comer in the film starring opposite Joaquin Phoenix.
Obviously, both Comer and Kirby are two fantastic actresses. So, the fact that Scott is able to replace one with the other would lead us to believe “Kitbag” will be able to recover just fine. Kirby is probably best known for her role in “The Crown” as well as her role in the “Mission: Impossible” franchise. She actually landed an Oscar nomination for her role in the recent film, “Pieces of a Woman.”
A release date for “Kitbag” has yet to be announced but production is supposed to begin early this year.
