As Martin Scorsese‘s “Killers Of The Flower Moon” approaches its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival next month, Osage News reports that Apple Original Films has three new images from the film. It’s about time, too: only one official still emerged after the movie started production in Oklahoma two years ago, hardly enough to satiate anticipation for the upcoming film.
Based on David Grann‘s 2017 book of the same name, “Flower Moon” follows an early FBI investigation into the serial murders of oil-wealthy Osage Nation members in 1920s Oklahoma. Scorsese and Eric Roth adapt Grann’s book for the film, with Leonardo DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, and Robert DeNiro leading the ensemble cast.
The new images showcase the meticulous detail set and costume designers went to recreate its 1920s setting. Gladstone’s attire is an excellent exmaple in particular, from its jewelry and garments to its Pendleton blankets, ubiquitous with Osage people of the period. Another image offers the first glimpse at DeNiro as William K Hale, the mastermind behind the Osage murders. Another photo sees Gladstone, who plays Mollie Burkhart, an Osage Indian woman married to DiCaprio’s Ernest Burkhart, on set in a Catholic church with Scorsese. The last photo sees DiCpario and Gladstone’s couple as they exit an automobile.
Other cast members of “Flower Moon” include Jesse Plemons, John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, and JaNae Collins. Jillian Dion, Tatanka Means, William Belleau, and Jason Isbell also star. Louis Cancelmi, Scott Shepherd, Sturgill Simpson, and many more round out the main cast.
“Killers Of The Flower Moon” is another long feature for Scorsese, clocking in at 206 minutes. Its world premiere at Cannes is on May 20, but it’s out of competition; it’s one of four films invited by the festival to premiere this year in the Out Of Competition category. After Cannes, Apple Original Films teams up with Paramount for the film’s theatrical release. “Flower Moon” gets a limited theatrical release on October 6 before opening wide on October 20. Then the film streams exclusively on Apple TV+.
