Listen, we get it, Peter Jackson. You want to make sure the fans are included and involved in the run up to the “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” and that’s pretty admirable — the video blogs have been great — but this parceling out of dwarves photos is exhausting already and frankly, kind of boring considering they all appear to be posing for a calendar instead of being shown in action or even on set.
Anyway, The Hitlist dutifully brings you two more dwarves, Fili and Kili, played by Dean O’Gorman and Aidan Turner. These two are the youngest of the group who participate in The Quest of Erebor, an adventure recounted in “Unfinished Tales” that takes place before the events in “The Hobbit,” in which Gandalf organizes the taking of Lonely Mountain whose treasure is guarded by the dragon Smaug. The brothers are part of a group of 12 dwarves and Thorin that accompany Bilbo on his journey.
And that’s really all you need to know — the full picture is below. “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey” arrives in theaters on December 14, 2012.
I get that you guys don\’t like HAVING to post each new trickle of information, and would prefer they\’d just release everything all at once so you only have to write one article, but toughen up, buttercup!
I love how the Hobbit and Dark Knight and Hunger Games are slowly leaking out dribs and drabs of info over the course of the next few years. I remember reading similar whining about the various daily releases of the Hunger Games \’tribute\” characters.
Just as with your site and a bazillion other similar movie sites (who don\’t seem to be so put-upon be the mean old marketing departments releasing yet ANOTHER photo), this gives us something daily to discuss or at least on a semi-regular basis. The first movie doesn\’t come out for another, what? eighteen months or so? We\’ve got plenty of time to discuss every bit of minutiae about this film. If you\’re whining NOW… I may have to drop this site from my RSS reader because it\’s only going to get worse as we are eventually introduced to Elf #17 in a few months time.
In all seriousness, the dwarves are looking about 1000 times cooler than I was expecting. Even though we had their look presented in LOTR, my brain is still filled with the Rankin-Bass versions. These photos have my faith temporarily restored (I\’m still concerned that Peter Jackson\’s last two films were King Kong and Lovely Bones, two huge misses in my book).
Can\’t wait for the next trickle.
This is all just build-up to Richard Armitage\’s big reveal. When the fanboys collide with the Armitage Army, the world might just implode.
