Even if you’re someone that doesn’t really click with the majority of Marvel Studios’ superhero films, if you watch the trailer for “WandaVision,” your interest might be piqued. In the brief clips we’ve seen and all the discussion about the series thus far, it’s clear that “WandaVision” isn’t the same sort of beast as your typical “Thor,” “Captain America,” or “Iron Man” project. Marvel’s first foray into the world of Disney+ streaming series is something…else. And according to Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige, the roots of “WandaVision’s” weirdness are laid in the most recent ‘Avengers’ films.
“If you look at the Infinity Saga, I don’t think any single person has gone through more pain and trauma than Wanda Maximoff,” said Feige, in a new interview with Empire. “And no character seems to be as powerful as Wanda Maximoff. And no character has a power-set that is as ill-defined and unexplored as Wanda Maximoff. So it seemed exploring that would be worthwhile post-‘Endgame.’ Who else is aware of that power? Where did it come from? Did the Mind Stone unlock it?”
There has been a lot of speculation about what bridges “Avengers: Endgame” to “WandaVision.” The last we saw these characters, Vision was killed at the end of ‘Infinity War’ and Wanda was able to get her revenge in ‘Endgame.’ However, none of that explains how they both end up in a sitcom-style streaming series.

While it has been widely reported that early episodes of “WandaVision” channel the early decades of American TV sitcoms, with a live studio audience and black and white color palette, apparently, “WandaVision” isn’t focused solely on nostalgia. According to the Marvel Studios president, the new Disney+ series also takes inspiration from and will model moments on the more modern sitcoms.
“We go up to the ‘Modern Family’ and ‘The Office’ style,” Feige said. “The talk-to-the-camera, shaky-camera, documentary style.”

Of course, with “The Office” being one of the most popular TV shows in existence right now, thanks to streaming, this will have many fans trying to figure out how Wanda and Vision will fit in a documentary-style, talk-to-the-camera series. With Vision’s lack of humanity, is he just another Dwight Schrute? Is Wanda Maximoff a Pam? We’ll have to wait and see.
