Got a Tip?

Justin Timberlake & Molly Shannon Join Cast Of ‘Bad Teacher’

Former Cameron Diaz boytoy, Justin Timberlake and SNL alum Molly Shannon are set to join the comedy, “Bad Teacher.”

They join an already stellar cast that includes Jason Segel, Lucy Punch and John Michael Higgins in a film about a foul-mouthed, gold-digging seventh-grade teacher (Diaz) who sets her sights on a colleague (Punch), who is dating the school’s model teacher. Segel plays a gym teacher, and Higgins plays the principal.

In the latest round of casting, Timberlake “will play a substitute who stands to one day inherit his family’s watch fortune,” which the roles by Shannon, and “Modern Family” actor Eric Stonestreet, who’s also joined the cast, remain unknown. The script was written by “The Office” scribes Lee Eisenberg and Gene Stupnitsky and Jake Kasdan is directing.

The most intriguing part of all this is that Columbia Pictures President Doug Belgrad said, “We love what we’ve seen of Justin’s performance in David Fincher’s ‘The Social Network’ and he is a perfect match for this role.” In David Fincher’s film, Timberlake plays Sean Parker, founder of Napster and President of Facebook but perhaps his role in “The Social Network” is a lot funnier than we thought? [ed. in the script it is pretty amusing, though not necessarily comedy]

Production on “Bad Teacher” starts this month in Los Angeles.

  1. Diaz, I think is an underrated actress, so I hope this really champions her strengths and becomes an interesting role for her.

    But Timberlake.

OH MY GOD, he such a shitty actor I can't stand it.

The only times Timberlake is tolerable is when he does 3 minute comedy clips like on Saturday Night Live.

Anything else, especially anything dramatic, KILL ME.

  2. OH MY GOD! He is so NOT a shitty actor.

I cannot take comments of someone who starts with OMG! seriously.
Yes, I am talking to you, Katie.

You obviously have not seen Alpha Dog. Justin was the best thing in the film. He has great comedic timing, so this might be really good with Cameron.
