‘Jung_E’ Teaser: A New Sci-Fi Actioner From ‘Train To Busan’ Director Yeon Sang-Ho Hits Netflix On January 20

South Korean director Yeon Sang-ho already has a great relationship with Netflix. The “Train To Busan” director teamed up with the streaming giant for the series “Hellbound,” its second season coming soon. Sang-ho has an adaptation of the popular manga “Parasyte: The Grey” coming to Netflix, too. Now, a new film from Sang-ho for Netflix emerges: “Jung_E,” a dystopian sci-fi actioner.

Set in the 22nd century, with Earth no longer habitable due to climate change, war breaks out in the last shelter built for human survival. The only way to end the conflict hinges on cloning a legendary mercenary into a scalable robot.

Here’s the official synopsis for “Jung_E,” courtesy of Netflix:

In a post-apocalyptic near-future, a researcher at an AI lab leads the effort to end a civil war by cloning the brain of a heroic soldier — her mother.

“Jung_E” stars Kang Soo-yeonKim Hyun-joo, and Ryu Kyung-soo. Hyun-joo also stars in “Hellbound” and another upcoming Sang-ho series “The Bequeathed.” The film marks Kang Soo-yeon’s final film appearance, who died earlier this year.

Critics weren’t wild about Sang-ho’s last film released in the US market, 2020’s sequel to “Train To Busan,” “Peninsula.” But maybe Netflix subscribers will find “Jung_E” more appealing. The movie hits the streamer on January 20. Watch a teaser for “Jung_E” below.
