Dear Juliette Binoche, why can’t we see more of you every year?
Fresh off the success of her role in director Abbas Kiarostami’s “Certified Copy,” which many of our staffers love, Binoche already has work lined up in highly anticipated films like David Cronenberg’s odyssey “Cosmopolis.”
While that film is in post-production now, Binoche is already moving forward, as Variety reports she’s set to star in helmer Fabrice Camoin‘s feature debut, “A Stormy Summer Night.” The film will be based on a French novel entitled “10 heures et demie du soir en été” which follows a couple who spend a night in a town that’s become overwhelmed by a crime, when an immigrant worker commits murder out of passion.
Les Films Du Poisson are producing this as one of several Gallic adaptations. Shooting is set to commence in 2012, with distribution already locked for France. We’re going to guess we’ll see this on the festival circuit come this time next year.
Binoche has always been an actress who’s able to effortlessly navigate her way through everything from classy projects like Krzystof Kieslowski’s “Blue” and Michael Haneke‘s “Caché,” to Hollywood treacle like “Dan in Real Life” and “The English Patient.” While we’d prefer to be writing about her participation in Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis,” we suppose that any Binoche-related projects are certainly worth at least talking about.
