Deadline is reporting that Roberts has signed on to star and executive produce the upcoming series “Charlotte Walsh Likes to Win.” The series is based on the best-selling novel by author Jo Piazza and follows a woman named Charlotte Walsh, who is a Silicon Valley tech executive that decides to pack up her family and move back to her hometown in Pennsylvania. Why the sudden move? Well, Walsh wants to go back to her hometown to run for Senate in one of the most important elections in the mid-terms.
Obviously, Roberts will play the title character and, judging by her extensive career, will no doubt be great in the role. What makes ‘Charlotte Walsh’ even more intriguing is the fact that Jon Robin Baitz has signed on to write the series. Baitz is a two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist that is probably best known for her career as a playwright, but is also the writer behind TV series such as “Brothers & Sisters” and “The Slap.”
There’s no word on a release date for the series but with Roberts attached, it’s clear that Amazon is interested in keeping the actress busy and away from the competition. So, we can probably expect this to get up and going sooner rather than later.
