Got a Tip?

Judi Dench Says Her ‘Cats’ Costume Looks “Like Five Foxes F*cking On My Back”

We should all strive to be more like Dame Judi Dench. And I don’t mean in the way that we should all have goals that include being seven-time Oscar-nominated actress (winning 1 trophy) that is revered the world over for incredible performances in dozens of films. Obviously, that would be a fine goal to have. But what I intended is that we should all have the save “no fucks to give” attitude that the good Dame clearly is enjoying right now.

Speaking to Vogue, the legendary actress opened up about a number of things in her career and life. However, what stood out most is how Dench described her time working on the ill-fated film, “Cats.” The Tom Hooper film adaptation of the iconic Broadway musical has become a cult classic, already, and has spawned countless memes and jokes, given just how terrible the film is. And in mind of Dench, it’s probably a bit deserving, even if she admits she hasn’t seen the finished film in its entirety.

According to the actress, working on the film was bad enough, especially with the costuming that the actress was shown wearing in the film.

“The cloak I was made to wear!” she said. “Like five foxes fucking on my back.”

And unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that Dench was pleased with the final look of her feline character.

“A battered, mangy old cat,” she said, describing her character. “A great big orange bruiser. What’s that about?”

We should all be so lucky to be as carefree and confident about our careers and stations in life to be able to talk so bluntly about a project like Dench does about “Cats.” And what’s even better is that she’s not off at all in her assessment of the film, particularly the way she looks in it. The effects and costuming in “Cats” is one of the most talked-about aspects of the disastrous film.

If you have yet to endure “Cats” for yourself, you can do so on VOD and wherever you buy your films.
