Got a Tip?

Judd Apatow Talks ‘Ghostbusters 3,’ Will Ferrell, Brad Pitt And Jonah Hill Join ‘Oobermind,’ First Footage From ‘The Expendables’

Might Judd Apatow have enjoyed seeing his name linked to “Ghostbusters 3” enough to now want the job? In response to a question about his potential involvement on the third film on Australian talk show, “Rove Live,” Apatow simply responded “no, that is not true. Although, if they would like to hire me, I’m available.” Not exactly an expression of interest but nor is it the writer/director shunning the project which is a mild surprise, especially after the persistent rumors linking him to a producer’s role which he has already come out and debunked himself. Warner Brothers have tapped Michael Diliberti and Matthew Sullivan to pen a new adaptation of George Barr McCutcheon’s novel “Brewster’s Millions.” Two film adaptations have already been made form the 1902 novel, the latest being Walter Hill’s Richard Pryor-John Candy-led version in 1985. The original story centers on a man who must spend $1 million dollars in a year to inherit $7 million dollars. [THR]

Will Ferrell has replaced Robert Downey Jr. and will also be joined by Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill in Dreamworks’ animated superhero film “Oobermind.” Ferrell will voice the title supervillain who imagines all his dastardly dreams coming true after defeating good-guy rival Metro Man (Pitt), only to find life quite boring without an adversary. To fill the void, Oobermind creates a new superhero, Titan (Hill), who also wants to be bad, forcing Oobermind to switch sides. Tina Fey also stars. The animated flick is being directed by Tom McGrath, a co-director of the “Madagascar” films. [Variety]

Ron Shelton is set to helm “Q School,” a golf comedy based on a script with his “Tin Cup” co-scribe John Norville. The film centers on a group of hopefuls battle it out in a competition to make the PGA Tour, with both their game and their personal lives sometimes ending up in the drink along the way. Tim Allen and Dennis Quaid are eyeing roles. [THR]

The cataclysmic comedy-troupe known as the Wayan Brothers are set to sequelize their 2004 film “White Chicks.” Marlon and Shawn Wayans will reprise their roles two FBI agents going undercover as the titular white females with brother Keenen Ivory Wayans at the helm. Millions of dollars into time travel research would be worth it alone just to stop Mr. and Mrs. Wayans from ever meeting. [THR]

A new promo for an upcoming UFC meet features Sylvester Stallone talking to his ‘The Expendables” star Antonio ‘Minotauro’ Nogueira about fighting his co-star Randy Courture as well as the first footage from the film.
