Got a Tip?

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo Won’t Take Flight With ‘The Crow’

‘Intruders’ Gets Picked Up By Millenium

Poor Eric Draven. No one wants to bring him back to life. The long gestating reboot of “The Crow” is once again on the skids, as a director has, once again, left the project.

Just to recap, the reboot started off promisingly with a script by Nick Cave, though with the worrisome choice of Stephen “I Made Sean Connery Retire” Norrington in the director’s chair (he was the dude behind the terrible “League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen“). Unfortunately (or fortunately) that version never got off the ground and it was in essence started over, with “28 Weeks Later” helmer Juan Carlos Fresnadillo signing on in April with Cave’s script out (boo!) and “Watchmen” writer Alex Tse taking over. Even more, Bradley Cooper was lining up for the lead role, but a lawsuit from the Weinsteins threw a spanner in the works (it has been since resolved), Cooper lined up “Paradise Lost” and with movement seemingly at a standstill, Twitch reports that Fresnadillo is moving on.

So what will Fresnadillo do next? It looks like “Highlander,” which he signed on to direct a few weeks ago will be taking the pole position. Frankly, we think he’s better than remaking either movie, but we suppose you gotta take work where you can get. But if you need your Fresnadillo fix sooner, his latest horror film “Intruders” starring Clive Owen and Daniel Bruhl, just got picked up by Millenium and will likely hit theaters next year.

No word yet on who might replace Fresnadillo, but man, can we get that Nick Cave script back in the mix please?

sorry, connery retired himself (just look at his astonishing bad role choices in that period, and also the roles he didn\’tn care to like f.e. gandalf). also norrington was basically shut out of the (post-)production of the film and about 10-15%(!) of his cut and material remained intact. connery and the studio then took over, and the final product can be seen in its horrficic glory. lxg can be seen as a prime example of big hollywood actors and studios shitting over their own films out of complete incompetence and vanity.
