Got a Tip?

Joss Whedon Says He’s Not Making ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Because It’s “A Young Man’s Game”

Avengers: Age Of UltronAs has been confirmed and confirmed again, Joss Whedon is not directing the two-part "Avengers: Infinity War." For now, his duty as Marvel‘s guru is over after "Avengers: Age Of Ultron." But you might be wondering why the writer/director is stepping away from the mega-franchise at the peak of its powers, and it would seem it’s gotten as big as he’s willing to handle.

“Every movie I have ever made has been an ensemble piece of increasingly enormous proportions,” Whedon told EW. “That many balls in the air, it’s only going to get bigger with ‘Infinity War.’ I’m not going to be able to give it what I would need to.”

“It’s a young man’s game,” he adds.

It’s fair enough for Whedon to recognize if the game is getting beyond the scope he’s willing to deal with. Though I’d wonder if that puts more pressure on Anthony and Joe Russo to deliver as they step in for the next ‘Avengers’ movie.

Food for thought. "Avengers: Age Of Ultron" opens on May 1st. Check out a slew of new cast interviews below and a few new pics.

  1. So Captain America Civil War is supposed to come out in a year and they haven\’t even started shooting? Usually these films have their first trailer to show a year before. I think they are gonna fall behind with all their slated releases.
