Got a Tip?

Jordan Peele Says Next Film Will Continue To Have “A Little Bit Of Horror, A Little Bit Of Comedy”

Back in 2017, the world wasn’t really ready for what Jordan Peele was set to offer in his directorial debut, “Get Out.” That film became an instant hit, earning Peele three Oscar nominations and one win for Best Original Screenplay. Since then, he released another acclaimed film, “Us,” and is set to release his latest, “Nope,” in just a few short days. Each film he releases gets more and more hype, leading fans to constantly wonder what type of thrills the filmmaker has up his sleeve next. Well, even though “Nope” is on the verge of hitting the big screen, Peele is still keeping tight-lipped about what’s coming next.

Speaking to Deadline, while on the red carpet for the premiere of “Nope,” Jordan Peele gave a vague tease as to what’s to come. Let’s just say, if you’re a fan of his previous three films, it looks like the fourth Peele feature is going to keep the filmmaker in a familiar tonal space.

“When I want you to know, you will know,” teased Peele about his next project. “I will stay within this realm that I love which is, I think, the only way I know how to view the world and how to tell stories at this point. A little bit of horror, a little bit of comedy, but I’m always going to try and give you a big show.”

When “Get Out” hit in 2017, the idea of Jordan Peele, a comedic force in the past, doing a horror film was shocking, to say the least. However, he’s one of the few filmmakers working today who are able to blend horror, comedy, and a healthy dose of social commentary in an exciting, unique package. So, even though there are folks who might want to see him branch out a little more and try something new, there are probably more people just excited for him to continue to release thrilling, scary, and thought-provoking horror films until the end of time.

All that to say, it’s not a surprise Peele is keeping mum about his fourth film. He typically doesn’t release a title until after it’s filmed and we hardly ever get a plot synopsis until the feature is basically days away from hitting theaters. But it is safe to say that Jordan Peele isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel and is happy to continue doing what he does best.

“Nope” hits theaters on July 22.
