For reasons that should be obvious, “Inherent Vice” is our Most Anticipated Film Of 2014. And now, there’s one more reason to get excited.
Film Music Reporter reveals that Paul Thomas Anderson has once again rung up Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood, with the musician set to score the Thomas Pynchon adaptation. It will mark their third straight pairing together with Greenwood providing memorable work for both 2007’s “There Will Be Blood” and 2012’s “The Master,” but we’re really curious what he’ll do here. While the aforementioned films were intense personal dramas, “Inherent Vice” has largely been described as something much lighter (perhaps a movie we would’ve seen more fitting for PTA’ s previous go-to composer Jon Brion). Either way, we’re anxious to hear what he comes up with.
Featuring an insanely great cast that includes Joaquin Phoenix, Owen Wilson, Katherine Waterston, Martin Short, Reese Witherspoon, Jena Malone, Benicio del Toro, Joanna Newsom and more, there is no release date yet for “Inherent Vice,” but a major film festival premiere is likely. In other Greenwood news, Pitchfork recently revealed he’ll be doing a split release with The National‘s Bryce Dessner of classic music. The latter will be contributing “St. Carolyn By The Sea,” when Greenwood re-releasing his “There Will Be Blood” suite. The disc drops on March 3rd. Tracklist and artwork below.

Like i said before i hope that Jena Malone gets enough screentime and she's the most beautiful actress of entire Hollywood and she transcends all the other actresses.
Not sure 'light' Anderson or Pynchon for that matter is all that light. The book has a lovely dark smog hovering over it. Should be great, the first & best half of The Master was pretty much a homage to Pynchon's V.
My most anticipated film of 2014. Very glad to have Greenwood back on board.
If this score gets shut out of the Oscars again (don't pretend it won't be Oscar-worthy. Let's not lie to ourselves.) I'll burn the whole place down.
As long as its better than The Master. That was terrible. Surprised it didn't stall his career.
This collaboration seems to be miming David Fincher and Trent Reznors. The first film was good, the second one not nearly as much and same goes for the music. Now both sets of guys are entering their third film together this year. We shall see.
Jena Malone is gonna raise the bar of this movie cause she's a great actress and should not be overlooked by Hollywood!!!!!
You mean "insanely great cast… except Reese Witherspoon."
The film with most vice of my life. Something more? Full of goll. In PTA we trust more, Nolan Boys! Hip Hip Hip….VICE!! Jonny Greenweed!! The last song will be with the title of "Weed".
