Yep, another Steven Spielberg movie means another John Williams score, and the upcoming Oscar contender "Lincoln" will mark their 26th collaboration ("Duel" and "The Color Purple" being the only films in Spielberg's oeuvre the composer hasn't scored). And with the marketing campaign beginning to build up since the first official look at Daniel Day-Lewis in the lead role earlier this month, with a poster yesterday, now comes the full tracklist to the movie, which may serve as some kind of mild spoiler about just what moments in the president's life the movie will cover.
Based on the best-selling book “Team of Rivals” by Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Doris Kearns Goodwin and featuring a script by Tony Kushner (”Angels In America”), the film will focus on the tumultuous last four months of Lincoln's life as he focused on pushing the 13th Amendment that would end slavery through Congress. And the tracklist makes that abundantly clear with titles like "The Purpose of The Amendment," "The Southern Delegation And The Dream" and "Equality Under The Law." It also sounds like a history class we struggled to stay awake through at one time. Joking aside, it will likely sound appropriately grand and Williams-esque, and notch the dude yet another nomination and possible win — you can go ahead and save a slot for him in the Oscar race.
The score will drop on Tuesday, November 6th, a few days before the movie starts rolling in limited release on November 9th. Check it all out below.

Hey guys, why don't we, uh, just wait until we see the movie? However, most of you have already made up your minds about the movie. Even if it ends up being great, you've already made up your mind.
Then again, I loved "War Horse" so what do I know?
12. Freedomâs Call (6:06)
Ok so I was hoping that this would be great psychological look into the mind and genius of possibly the most mentally anguished President in US History, but this track alone has proven to me that this will be nothing but Spielberg cheese. I'm half expecting the delegates listening to Lincoln's speeches to say"Common honest Abe, push it through…we're all behind you!" ala War Horse. So much for a strong complex Spielberg film, I guess the only one in the last ten years will be Munich after all.
Can someone please wheel John Williams and his undeserved trophies into the nursing home and let real artists work please?
Spielberg there are other composers out there. I feel like William's only has a career because Steven keeps him in buisness.
In the grand scheme of cinematic history (you know, before The Dark Knight or The Avengers or whatever new blockbuster the kids are getting their first boners all over) yes, John Williams is the greatest film composer in history.
Star Wars. Indiana Jones. Jurassic Park. Jaws. The main Harry Potter theme. Early Oliver Stone. Schindler's List. Superman. Poseidon Adventure. Etc. Etc.
So he may not be at the top of his game in his 80s? He is going to have a longer lasting impression than surely any other composer in history.
Kushner's a good writer but it's doubtful this will be better than the 1988 miniseries "Lincoln" based on the Gore Vidal book, that had such a deep, un-romanticized portrait of Abe. Of course Spielberg will top it in scope, but "Team Of Rivals" was just pop history, nothing particularly edgy.
When is the trailer going to drop? This and The Place Beyond the Pines are taking a ridiculously long time… considering they wrapped a while ago.
Williams will singlehandedly ruin this movie.
