‘John Wick: Chapter 4’ First Look Teaser Trailer: Keanu Reeves Is Ready To Kill Everyone [Comic-Con]

Actor Keanu Reeves is experiencing a big career renaissance, the Reevolution if you like. It’s mostly thanks to the popularity of his “John Wick” franchise, focusing on a skilled and feared assassin that is begrudgingly pulled back into the fray. After some COVID-related production delays, “John Wick: Chapter 4” finally gets released next year and is said to be the second-to-last chapter with Wick’s journey expected to wrap up in “John Wick 5.”

The film is, unsurprisingly, being promoted at San Diego Comic-Con as Reeves was already attending the event to promote his comic and Netflix film adaptation of “BRZRKR.” 

We last saw, Mr. Wick is “betrayed” by his close allies Winston and Charon from The Continental as a way back into the High Table’s favor after clashing with a stuffy but persistent Adjudicator, a High Table representative, played by actress Asia Kate Dillion. Wick has now teamed up with Laurence Fishburne’s Bowery King, who was forced to give up his throne and territory to the High Table as the two are aligned for revenge against the mysterious puppet masters of this world of assassins.

Returning alongside Fishburne are Ian McShane and Lance Reddick, with the film’s new additions consisting of Japanese-British singer Rina Sawayama, Donnie Yen, Hiroyuki Sanada, Scott Adkins, Shamier Anderson, Bill Skarsgård, and Clancy Brown. 

While it’s unclear when precisely the studio will begin shooting the fifth film, at least two spinoffs are coming in the near future. Prequel series “The Continental” will air on Starz, and a feature film spinoff is on the way starring Ana de Armas (“No Time To Die”) as the titular “Ballerina” with Len Wiseman directing and Oscar-winning screenwriter Emerald Fennell (“Promising Young Woman”) recently polishing the action film’s script. 

Lionsgate, after many delays, finally settled on a release date of March 24, 2023.
