Got a Tip?

Joel McHale Joins Anna Faris and Chris Evans In ‘What’s Your Number?’

If you haven’t been watching NBC’s “Community,” you’ve been missing out in a big way; it’s coming to the end of what might be the strongest debut season of a sitcom in recent years (obviously we love “30 Rock” and “Arrested Development,” but those shows were a little patchy to start off with). The ensemble cast, which includes Chevy Chase, Alison Brie (“Mad Men”), Gillian Jacobs (“Choke”) and Donald Glover (“30 Rock”), work almost supernaturally well together, and now the show’s nominal lead, Joel McHale, is starting to book some film work.

The actor/stand-up, who appeared in Steven Soderbergh’s “The Informant,” is, as we reported on Monday, in talks to join the all-star cast of the comedy “The Big Year,” which top-lines Steve Martin, Jack Black and Owen Wilson, and today brings the news that he’s also in final negotiations to join Anna Faris and Chris Evans in the romantic comedy “What’s Your Number?”

The plot involves a woman (Faris) who discovers she’s slept with twice the national average of men, and decides to go back over her list of exes in the hope of finding her true love, aided by an obnoxious neighbor (Evans). McHale will play Faris’ boss, an encounter with whom sparks Faris’ quest. Zachary Quinto, Andy Samberg, Ari Graynor and Matt Bomer are also on board. Filming starts at the end of the month so that Evans can be done in time for the “Captain America” shoot.
