Got a Tip?

‘Killing Eve’s’ Jodie Comer To Join Matt Damon & Ben Affleck In Ridley Scott’s Upcoming Film ‘The Last Duel’

Jodie Comer is having a hell of a couple of years. After an extensive career floating around British TV series, the actress saw her career jump into overdrive thanks to a starring role in the critically-acclaimed, Emmy-winning series “Killing Eve.” In fact, this past weekend saw the actress take home a Best Actress Emmy for her work. And now, it appears that Comer is taking her skills to the big screen, thanks to one of the most acclaimed directors of our time.

According to Variety, Comer is in talks to star in the upcoming period drama “The Last Duel,” for filmmaker Ridley Scott. She’ll join the cast that already includes Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. “The Last Duel” is a film set in 14th century France, focused on a man who returns from war to find that his wife (Comer) has been raped. Due to no one believing the woman, her husband takes it upon himself to petition the government to allow him to face the accused rapist in a duel to the death.

This isn’t the only high-profile film project that Comer has on her plate. She’s also set to co-star in the upcoming Fox action film, “Free Guy,” where she plays opposite Ryan Reynolds. That film is set to be released in summer 2020. However, with Affleck and Damon aboard this film, with Scott directing, “The Last Duel” could end up becoming a film that gets some awards buzz, including some more acclaim for Comer.

Adding to the amazing cast and crew of “The Last Duel” is Nicole Holofcener, who is set to co-write the script with Damon and Affleck. Holofcener, of course, is the filmmaker behind recent projects like “The Land of Steady Habits.” She also wrote the Oscar-nominated film “Can You Ever Forgive Me?

“The Last Duel” still hasn’t been greenlit yet, but that is expected to come shortly. And if everything moves forward, production will begin in early 2020.
