As we mentioned earlier this year, the young and handsome Jim Caviezel hasn’t been able to land a decent acting job since Terrance Malicks 1998 film, “The Thin Red Line,” (ok, there’s “The Passion of The Christ,” but it didn’t really help his career much). The recent news coming from the Weinstein Company has his career going from bad to worse. Caviezel has a $47 million movie in post-production, “Outlander,” which was supposed to be released this fall is going down the path of straight to DVD, according to /film.com
Even though the movie was surely going to be a box-office bomb, at least it was an opportunity for Caviezel to get his mug back on the big-screen. The Weinstein’s, who are in financial trouble, are most likely considering the cost of distribution too high for the movie to ever make money at the box-office, but really, it seems like a bad time to decide to essentially dump a film. Maybe they should have thought of this before sinking almost $50 million into it. Sorry Jim, our advice, call up your agent, your new one, after you shit can the idiot who booked you in a movie about vikings battling aliens, and get a decent role for Christ’s sake.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but no it isn’t going straight to DVD. Granted the Weinsteins might still dump it theatrically, but the November DVD date is eroneous and the Weinstein Company has confirmed that there is no official DVD date yet.
