Got a Tip?

Jessica Chastain In Talks To Star Opposite Ralph Fiennes In ‘The Forgiven’ From The Director Of ‘Calvary’

We often talk about how busy actors like Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson have been recently, but we surely shouldn’t leave Jessica Chastain out of the conversation. Not only did the actress have two films arrive in 2019 (“Dark Phoenix” and “It: Chapter 2”), but she has a slate of upcoming films that will keep her on the big screen on an almost regular basis. And she’s not stopping any time soon, as she’s reportedly attached to a brand-new project, titled “The Forgiven.”

According to Variety, Chastain is in talks to star in the upcoming drama “The Forgiven,” which already includes Ralph Fiennes, Caleb Landry, Saïd Taghmaoui, Rebecca Hall, and Mark Strong in the cast. The film is reportedly about a family dealing with the aftermath of a tragic accident while they were on vacation in Morocco. Chastain is said to play the role of Fiennes’ wife in the film.

“The Forgiven” is written and directed by John Michael McDonagh, based on the novel by author Lawrence Osborne. McDonagh is probably best known for his 2014 film “Calvary.” His most recent film is 2016’s “War on Everyone.”

As mentioned, Chastain has been very busy, as of late. In addition to “The Forgiven,” she’s also starring in action films “Eve” and “355.” Then there’s “The Eyes of Tammy Faye,” where she stars alongside Andrew Garfield. And let’s not forget about the recent announcement she’s set to star in a new film titled “Losing Clementine.” Oh yeah, and at some point, Chastain will star in “The Division” from director David Leitch.

Additionally, buried in this report? Chastain has also joined the cast of “Losing Clementine” by award-winning Argentine filmmaker Lucia Puenzo.

But before she gets to some of those films, she’ll likely begin filming “The Forgiven” in Morocco in early 2020. That would indicate that perhaps the film could make a late-2020 debut in time for awards consideration. We’ll have to wait and see.
