Unless you’re a fanboy oblivious to the film’s (many) flaws, it’s generally agreed upon that “Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice” missed the mark. Certainly, Warner Bros. current superhero shakeup at executive and creative levels is an indication they weren’t pleased, even if they publicly keep up a good front, just like everyone who was involved in the movie. Well, except for Jeremy Irons, who plays Alfred, and he completely agrees with the critical lashing ‘Dawn Of Justice’ took.
“Deservedly so. I mean it took [$800 million at the box office], so the kicking didn’t matter but it was sort of overstuffed…It was very muddled,” he admitted to the Daily Mail, though he promises some improvement with “Justice League.”
“I think the next one will be simpler. The script is certainly a lot smaller, it’s more linear,” he said. Well, at least that’s some measure of hope that the franchise can’t get much worse and is headed toward something more coherent.
Meanwhile, it looks like we haven’t seen the last of Jesse Eisenberg’s ADD-addled Lex Luthor. Speaking at MCM London Comic Con (via Digital Spy), the actor teased that he would be back in “Justice League,” though he naturally tried not to spill too many details.
“I’m kind of in wait. They just started filming ‘Justice League,’ so I’m kind of like waiting for my crack at it,” he said. “I don’t know what I’m allowed to say, because I feel like there’s probably some drone following me from DC, and if I say anything wrong I get, you know, picked off.”
It was just a couple of months ago when Eisenberg stated he wasn’t sure if he’d be back, but he seems a bit more certain now, while staying cautious about confirming anything. And let’s hope that like the rest of “Justice League,” the character has a clear motivation for being there.
The leaner, more straightforward “Justice League Part One” opens on November 17, 2017.
Nah. It’s generally accepted as awesome. The people that went on the internet to slander this film were mostly jealous Marvel fans that couldn’t wait for Civil War, which has a ridiculous and fan insulting amount of flaws, but no one cared, because it’s Marvel. I work in the Mall of America and we sell tons of Batman and Superman products every single day even Batman v Superman products, and these questions are always asked. Did you see BvS? What did you think? 99% of people loved it and were blown away. The types of people also range in race, age, and sex. Not everyone goes online to give their opinion. In real life, more people loved it than these outspoken DC haters, which if you knew the history of DC, this was going to happen. They did it to the comics, and now they are doing it to the films. Yes the film has it’s flaws, but none of the haters are united on what the film should be, most of them hate Superman and love Batman. Such hilarity. The truth is, most people don’t know the DC mythology, they only think they know based off of their film experience with Batman or Superman. This film only touched the crust of what the DCCU can be. Everyone across the board is excited for the JL. Be thankful. The film was as original as it could be giving us classic moments from the comics with a different plot. Either way we are finally getting a serious take on characters that probably would never be taken seriously had they gone with anyone but Snyder.
