Well, here’s an interesting trio of thesps who will be stepping into a period pic.
THR reports that Jeremy Irons, Kim Cattrall and Tom Sturridge are set to star in “The Treehouse” directed by Lajos Koltai, a longtime cinematographer and sometimes helmer whose last effort was drama “Evening” which no one saw (though a middle of summer release date didn’t help that film either). Based on the novel by Eduard von Keyserling, the film will tell the story of “a failed student, his glamorous cousin, her mother and the student’s father” in pre-WWI Germany. No word yet on who will play what but we think everyone can make a fairly good connect-the-dots out of the cast and characters.
The pic is budgeted at $10 million and we’re curious about this one mostly to see if Cattrall will make another horrific attempt at an accent like she did in “The Ghost Writer.” We also want to know variety of hat Sturridge will rock for his one. As for Irons, he generally manages to rise above whatever movie, no matter how random or sloppily put together it is, so he’ll be fine. Intriguing material, eclectic cast. We’ll wait and see.
i guess you guys didn\’t see Dungeon and Dragons movie, or the Time Machine remake. Irons isn\’t what he use to be.
