Hollywood loves Lego, due in no small part to the massive success of "The Lego Movie." Disney plans the limited series "Lego Star Wars: Droid Tales," while Warner Bros. has "The Lego Movie 2," "Lego Batman," and "Ninjago" movies all coming in the next few years. Now, toss another one onto the pile.
THR reports that Jason Segel and Drew Pearce have been hired to co-write and co-direct "The Billion Dollar Brick Race" for WB. This is a potent pairing. Segel helped Disney revive "The Muppets," and when he left they couldn’t replicate his magic touch, while Pearce knows his way around the blockbuster world with work on "Iron Man 3" and "Mission: Impossible — Rogue Nation," along with the developing bro-version of the "Ghostbusters" reboot. So this is in good hands, but as for the plot? No word yet, as it’s being kept secret for now.
There’s no release date either, and development is early, but clearly, Warner Bros. believes Lego is a brand they want to keep building on. (Sorry).
