Got a Tip?

Jason Momoa Is Excited About The Safran/Gunn Era Of DC Studios And Teases One Of His DCU “Dreams Come True” Is In The Future

It’s been just over a week since Peter Safran and James Gunn took over as co-CEOs of the newly-branded DC Studios. No, there hasn’t been a tidal wave of shocking, fan-pleasing announcements. The Snyderverse is still dead. David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” director’s cut isn’t happening. And the CW is continuing to purge itself of DC superhero soap operas. But that doesn’t mean that Safran and Gunn aren’t planning things already. According to one of the biggest DCU stars, Jason Momoa, some dreams are going to come true, eventually.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, while promoting his upcoming Netflix fantasy film, “Slumberland,” Jason Momoa was asked about the future of the DCU under its new management. And while Momoa isn’t going to spill any details, he did hint that something big, at least to him, is on the horizon.

“I think that with Peter Safran and Mr. Gunn at the helm now at DC, I’m very excited about that,” said Momoa. “There are a lot of cool things that will be coming up. One of my dreams come true will be happening under their watch. So, stay tuned!”

You have to assume the “dreams come true” comment is not in relation to “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” which is the sequel scheduled to arrive in 2023. To say that a sequel to a billion-dollar original film is a dream come true would have to be a stretch, right? So, it would stand to reason that Momoa is talking about something else. Maybe there is a new “Justice League” film that he knows about? Perhaps he’s going to get a chance to team up and do a new film with Batman or Superman? At this point, we really don’t know what to expect.

Regardless, it would appear that Momoa, who is one of the few stars who has found huge success in the DCU thus far, is excited about what Safran and Gunn bring to the table. If you’re a fan of “Aquaman” and the DC universe of comic book characters, this is definitely an exciting time.

“Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is set to arrive in theaters on December 25, 2023.

Here’s Momoa’s comments (at the 3:50 mark):
