Is James Bond role going to go to much younger actors? It seems like that could be the case if things don’t turn out as the producers of the franchise want. There are rumors that Jamie Bell could be given the license to kill, but those generated from the Daily Mail, which can be very hit and miss when it comes to celebrity news. But maybe the paper is onto something. Deadline has confirmed that the 30 year old actor —who appeared as The Thing in last year’s doomed “Fantastic Four”— is in fact talking to the 007 producers.
Evidently rumors that Daniel Craig won’t reprise his role as 007 were premature. While no negotiations for the next Bond film have started, the trade suggests that Craig won’t really engage in talks about Bond until more of the creative elements are in place, such as the director and script.

Meanwhile, Craig is staying busy. He’s recently been attached to the twenty-episode TV series “Purity” with director Todd Field at the helm. This may be a strategy for dealing with the Bond gatekeepers: should he decide to walk, he’ll have options.
And I’d assume Barbara Broccoli, the long-time producer and essentially keeper of the Bond franchise, is doing the same with the talks with Bell, serving as a backup plan. Previously, Craig has said the only reason he returned for “Spectre” was because he convinced “Skyfall” director Sam Mendes to direct. Mendes appears to be permanently out of the franchise, so Craig may need to also approve a new director if it comes to that. Oh, and they’d also have to come up with a script he actually liked. Bell is probably crossing his fingers as we speak.
Jamie Bell? Pass. He’s a good actor but he’s a child compared to the previous Bonds and doesn’t have the style or wit to pull it off
He’s a good actor. I suggested him the last time Craig threatened to leave, and I got poo-pooed then. The chickens have come home to roost.
Jesus some of these rumours just get worse and worse!
Ugh. If the Craig era is finally over, can we please finally get someone who’s actually Bond-like into the role?
How was Craig not Bond-like? He wasn’t a fey wisecracker like Moore or Brosnan?
Honestly, he was boring. He brought no personality to the role. No charisma. His emoting and dialogue delivery were flat as pancakes in all four movies. They were entertaining enough as action/spy thrillers go, but they were generic. I never felt like I was watching James Bond. A lot of that came from the creative decisions being made behind the scenes, sure. But Craig’s inability to infuse the character with any tangible personality was consistently disappointing.
Different strokes I guess. Craig came closer to my image of Bond from the novels than anyone else except possibly Dalton. I thought Dalton nailed it, but the public was still clamoring for the bad puns and fey action of the be-girdled Roger Moore.
I’m sold on Jamie Bell. No more boring old dudes.
Chris Nolan please
James Bell is only 5 feet 7 inches. Pretty short for a James Bond role.
Fassbender, Fassbender, Fassbender.
Bond going young? Need just remind those who seem to forgot, in 1962, Sean Connery was a 32 year old actor…a mere two years older than our erstwhile and hopeful newer possible Bond, Jamie Bell. And to sweeten the pot, outside of Britain, Connery was a relative unknown….
Jamie Bell? Not hating on him but I don’t see him as Bond. Henry Cavill would be the best choice. Tom Hidleston would also be good.
I can’t agree about Cavill. He exudes virtually no personality. He’s been awful as Superman. Huddleston could bring tons of personality, however, I’m not sure it would be the right personality for the role.
I have to disagree. Watch the Man From UNCLE. He was great in that.
Hiddleston or Tennant please!
lol No.
tennant? think you have been drinking it
Cavill or Fassbender are the only real choices.
Craig… crap or get off the pot.
Craig is awesome as Bond and if they want to keep the $300M+ Domestic, 1B+ International behemoth churning, they’d better work with Craig. He cares more about the vision, not the payday and I applaud him for that
I don’t think he cares about the vision. He just hates playing the role and making these movies. He’s been very vocal about it.
From what I have read, he’s been vocal about hating the role because the scripts were garbage which seems to be one of his main peeves. Maybe they’ll get it worked out 🙂
I thought Daniel Craig was contracted through Bond 25? WUWT?
every mendes bond film has been a let down for me, so glad he is out.
craig will star in the next bond film, but like always, negotiations
start before the incumbent exits.
