While comic book sites breathlessly reported recently that Tom Holland was spotted in Germany, presumably suiting up to play Spider-Man in "Captain America: Civil War," it looks like the actor will rack up a few more air miles.
Sierra/Affinity announced that production has started on James Gray‘s long-in-the-works "The Lost City Of Z." Holland joins the cast of Charlie Hunnam, Sienna Miller, and Robert Pattinson, in the film based on David Grann‘s best-selling book about Percy Fawcett, a conscripted soldier and born explorer who disappeared in the 1920s while searching for a mythical city in the Amazon jungles of Brazil that he believed he discovered on a prior expedition. Production just started in Belfast, where it will shoot for the next five weeks, before heading to Colombia, where the film will lens through September and October.

Basically, James Gray is going into the jungle for his next movie, and if that doesn’t get you excited, I don’t know what will. Paramount Pictures will release the film in the U.S., and maybe we’ll get a first look soon? With festival season heating up and everyone anxious to get their movies on the radar, fingers crossed.
@Talia,@Belmondo,thanks for explanations,I have to read the book.
Wake me when Korine is filming R Patz in The Trap
TLCOZ covers a 20 year time period, Hunnam will age up to 52 and Tom Holland is perfect casting to play his son in the latter part of he film. Excellent young actor, and good addition to this already solid cast, but with Gray directing, not a surprise.
@MI just looked up how old Fawcett\’s oldest son was when he accompanied his father on his last expedition and it says he was 20 and Tom is 19 so his casting would fit in with that but I\’m sure in due time it will be revealed what role he was cast in
@TALIA,could be but isn\’t he too young?Hunnam is too young to play a father and explorer,isn\’t Fawcett supposed to be in his 50s?
was already looking forward to this film with charlie and rob attached but even more excited to see it now that Tom has been cast in it. Wonder if Tom will play Fawcett\’s son?
Great news about Tom Holland. He was wonderful in The Impossible. I\’m excited for this movie–great director and cast, and the book was fascinating.
