Got a Tip?

James Franco To Star In Summit Comedy, ‘Ricky Stinicky’

Versatile actor James Franco is now attached to star in the newly-announced Summit Entertainment comedy, “Ricky Stinicky.”

The story centers on a couple of pals who use a made-up friend as a means to get away from their spouses. However, when said spouses threaten to uncover their lies by insisting his appearance at a party one of the pals are hosting, the group hires an actor (Franco) to portray the character, Ricky Stinicky, in order to keep the illusions alive. Hilarity ensues, we guess, though being a comedy spec from “Beverly Hills Chihuahua” writer Jeff Bushell, doesn’t exactly bode well.

Franco just wrapped on Danny Boyle’s “127 Hours,” the story of hiker Aron Ralston who cut off his own arm when it became lodged under a falling rock, which has been shooting since March in the Utah wilderness and is expected to lead Fox Searchlight’s Oscar campaign this year. He also has the likes of Jeffrey Friedman and Rob Epstein’s story of Allen Ginsberg’s titular poem, “Howl,” set for release in September through Oscilloscope and stars in David Gordon Green’s medieval-stoner-comedy “Your Highness” alongside Danny McBride, Zooey Deschanel and Natalie Portman due to hit theaters next April.

No word on when “Ricky Stinicky” could begin production but as no director has even been hired on the Michael De Luca and John Jacobs production, it definitely still sounds a ways away.
